I work Wednesday – Saturday and both emails and phone messages are monitored from 9am – 6pm. On work days, I will do my best to respond to your inquiry within 24 hours.
Contact me at kristen@kristendrozdacounselling.com or (672) 999-4201 to arrange for a complimentary 20-minute introductory consultation. During this session, I am also open to providing resources and possible referrals.
If you would like to work with me, we will discuss best appointment times and I will invite you to create a profile on Jane, a secure encrypted clinical, booking, and payment platform. All subsequent appointments will appear within your profile.
I am happy to see clients in-person and virtually, via the secure Jane online platform. If you would like an in-person session, I respectfully request confidential honesty about vaccination status and potential signs of illness. We will work together to ensure safety. I am fully vaccinated for Covid-19. Please reach out if you have any questions.

I accept e-transfer (preferred) and major credit cards. If paying by e-transfer, please send to kristen@kristendrozdacounselling.com on the same day as your session, unless other arrangements have been made. Credit card payments are processed same day via a secure billing platform (Jane) and include a small processing fee.
Note about insurance – Counselling is not currently covered by BC’s Medical Services Plan. Many extended health providers cover a certain amount towards counselling fees so please check with your provider if your benefits cover the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I do not offer direct billing, but once you submit payment you will receive an electronic receipt that will have all the information you need to submit a claim to your provider for reimbursement. Fees may be deductible as a medical expense on income taxes. Please speak to your financial advisors to explore this further.

Counselling sessions are confidential. Both verbal information and written records about you cannot be shared with another party without your voluntary written consent or the voluntary consent of a legal guardian. Confidentiality continues after the end of the counselling relationship.
Conversations about confidentiality will occur throughout counselling. Clients have the right to withdraw consent at any time and request a change in the counselling approach, a referral to another counsellor, or termination of therapy.
While I can ensure confidentiality in face-to-face communication, I cannot ensure that electronic communication will be kept confidential. Please be aware of this if you choose to communicate through e-mail.
Legal limitations to confidentiality:
When there may be imminent danger or harm to self or others
When there is suspicion or disclosure of harm, abuse, or neglect of vulnerable persons, such as a child or elderly person
When records are subpoenaed by court order or if the disclosure is otherwise required by law
Every reasonable effort will be made to discuss these circumstances with you prior to the involvement of other professionals.
Other provisions:
It may be helpful or necessary for me to speak to other professionals involved in aspects of your care. Whenever possible, this will be done after discussing the intent of such contact and with your written consent. You have the right to know what transpired in any conversation between myself and other professionals.
In order to provide the best possible service, I may consult with other professionals about our work together; your name and other identifying information would not be used.
Note for parents/guardians:
In British Columbia, those below the age of 19 have the right to consider making their own health decisions, including access to and confidentiality during counselling. I value and honour the autonomy of youth and will maintain their confidentiality. I also honour the role of caregivers and will work carefully to explore how best to share information.

I require at least 48 hour notice by phone or email for appointment cancellation. Cancellations with less notice will be charged the full fee for the missed session. There is no penalty for changing an in-person session to a virtual session, even at the last minute.
I understand there may be situations beyond your control so please contact me as early as possible and we can try to make alternate arrangements.
